Cabbage with Cumin Seeds

Everyday cabbage is transformed into a tasty side dish. If you don’t want the chilli flavour use finely diced red capsicum to give the dish some colour.

You will need:

1 tablespoon olive oil
1 tablespoon cumin seeds
2 tablespoons sesame seeds
1 garlic clove, crushed
1 small red chilli, seeds removed, chopped
½ small cabbage, cut into ¾ cm slices
Salt and pepper to taste

Heat oil in a large frying pan, cook cumin and sesame seeds on a medium heat until sesame seeds are golden.

Add garlic and chilli and continue cooking for another minute, stirring so seeds don’t burn. Remove from the pan.

Add cabbage to the frying pan and cook stirring until cooked but still firm. Return the seed mixture to pan stirring it through the cabbage. Finally add salt and pepper to taste and serve immediately.
